Escape from the Vigilante Crypt begins now!

VC Cover

That’s right, folks!  I’ve started putting out the next Ghost Zero story as a webcomic here and on Drunkduck!  This story is in the traditional comic-page format (and will eventually see print) which gives me tons more room for pacing and dialogue.  Vigilante Crypt will be a 3, 22-page story arc and I plan on posting one page a week.  As with Ghosts with Guns, Anthony Schiavino is providing the lettering/design and the effect is amazing.  Stay tuned, because the edge of your seat just got a little bit closer….)

Spock! Progress Report!!

Morning, everyone!

I thought it was time for a bit of a “heads up” on what has been going on with the Ghost Zero front.

My first print book, “Ghosts with Guns” is all but complete.  We’re waiting on some great pin-ups from a couple of artists, and then it’s off to the Ka-Blam for printing.  I’ll be selling it from Ka-Blam’s IndyPlanet site, of course, but I’ll also be offering to sell them directly from me….and if you buy from me, you get not only an autographed copy, but also the first chapter of the Ghost Zero Novel, “Curse of the Murder Machine!”…..and maybe some other fun extras.)  The book should be out the first part of February, and I’ll have an official announcement about it here!

Also, I’ve gotten news that the GZ Bust sculpted by Eric Nocella Diaz has been reviewed in issue #40 of Amazing Figure Modeler Magazine!  I’ve ordered my copy, but I haven’t read the review yet…..let’s hope it’s good!)  I plan to have a table at Wonderfest in Louisville, Kentucky where I will sell the statues, the GwG book and maybe more goodies.)  We’re also offering up a limited number of PRE-PAINTED GZ busts for $150…I saw a picture of the first of them this morning.  They are being painted by my childhood friend, the intensely talented Doug McCord, who painted the very first bust that is sitting in a place of honor on the shelves overlooking my studio space.  Here is a picture of what Doug can do….

GZ bust, front

The plotting for the next GZ story arc “Escape from the Vigilante Crypt” is nearly complete, so scripting for the first book is ready to begin.  There is a great-looking piece of Splash art in the GwG book that is about this story….and it will knock your socks off!  Well…it did mine, anyway, and it’s cold!  Brrr!

So, even though it may be cold as death right now, be assured that the dead are busy working on GHOST ZERO!

GZ Doomed Quote

Folks,

Lillian, the “Mistress of the Web” at Gothicblend.com has posted an interview with me, discussing the Ghost Zero character, along with the new “Ghosts with Guns” book coming out soon!  Lillian asks some questions that are pretty unexpected, and it makes for a fun read.  There’s lots of great GZ pics over there too, so head on over and enjoy!

It’s coming!

I have to announce that my first GZ print comic “Ghosts with Guns” is nearly finished.)  GwG is a 32-page compilation book that contains reworked versions of both “Sea of the Dead” and “The Fleshless Legion”, along with never-seen-before GZ art, sketch pages, and some awesome pin-ups from some fantastic artists.  I asked Anthony Schiavino (EPISODES FROM THE ZERO HOUR!)to come in for lettering and design of the book, and the result is nothing short of eye-popping.  The difference in new lettering/fx on the comic is like taking out me doing an impression of Harrison Ford, and having Harrison Ford himself!)

The book should be available for purchase later this month….expect to see an official press release soon!

As a teaser for you guys, I’m attaching an in-progress piece for one of the new splash pages that will be in the book.  Part of my process for doing large pages involves me shooting/finding reference and putting them together in Photoshop to build a basic composition to guide me.  It also gives Anthony a chance to see what I have in mind so that he can build the text for the image.  So, here is a Mock-up for a splash page that will appear in the book.  Yes, that’s me wearing a mask, pea coat, gloves and carrying a LeMat.)  Click on the thumbnail for the larger version and enjoy!
